Charitable status

The University of London is an exempt charity in England and Wales under the terms of the Charities Act 2011.

The main objective of The University of London is to act for the Public Benefit- to advance knowledge and learning by teaching and research; and to encourage the achievement and maintenance of the highest academic standards. Our principle regulatory body is the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), who ensure all obligations are fulfilled under charity law.
