Entrepreneurs from emerging markets - Global MBA

A scholarship of 30% off the Global MBA fee will be available for students in emerging markets that are, or have the potential to become, entrepreneurs. 150 scholarships are available. 100 will be for web-supported learners and 50 for those at recognised Teaching Centres.

We are offering 150 scholarships to students from emerging countries to promote the next generation of global entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs from emerging markets

Applications need to meet the following:

  • You must first apply and have been given an offer for the Global MBA before your application will be considered.
  • You must reside in a Band A country.
  • You cannot apply for the scholarship or be awarded the scholarship if you have already registered on the Global MBA programme.
  • Submit a 500-word application related to how obtaining a Global MBA will assist in your future endeavours and assist a country within an ‘emerging market’.
  • You cannot apply for the scholarship or be awarded the scholarship if you have already registered on the Global MBA programme.

The Scholarship is available for the April 2019, July 2019, October 2019 and January 2020 intakes. There will be 150 scholarships allocated on a rolling basis. Students studying via the web-supported option or through a Teaching Centre will be able to apply.

The 30% scholarship will not cover module continuation fees, examination centre costs or any other costs not directly payable to us (such as the purchase of additional materials or electronic equipment).

  1. Complete the scholarship application form (including two written statements, max. 500 words, outlining how obtaining a Global MBA will assist in your future endeavours and assist a country within an ‘emerging market’.
  2. Submit an application for the Global MBA. At the 'Scholarships and Bursaries' section, select the correct scholarship from the menu and attach/upload your completed scholarship form. If you apply for the scholarship, please await the outcome of your scholarship application before completing registration.

If you wish to apply for the scholarship after you have submitted your application for the programme (but you have not registered) you can do so via our online enquiry system by uploading your completed scholarship application. 

Notes

  • You will need to apply for this scholarship - you are not entered automatically. 
  • Students already registered with the University of London cannot apply for this scholarship.
  • All applications are reviewed against the award criteria.
  • Applicants will be informed of the outcome prior to registration.
  • All decisions are final and it is not possible to appeal.
  • This award cannot be used in conjunction with any other University of London scholarship or grant.
  • As a scholarship holder, you are required to write a short report each year outlining the impact of your study and research which may be used for marketing purposes.
  • You will become an Ambassador for the Global MBA and may be asked to represent the programme at a maximum of two local marketing and recruitment events.
  • You must follow the standards expected of University of London students.

We reserve the right to withdraw your scholarship if you do not comply with these terms.

The following terms and conditions apply to your University of London Entrepreneurs from emerging markets – Global MBA scholarship:

  1. To be eligible for the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship, you must be a current resident within a band A country
  2. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship is available for the University of London Global MBA programme offered via distance learning only.
  3. You will not be considered for the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship until you have been given an offer for the University of London distance learning Global MBA programme.
  4. You cannot be considered for the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship if you are a currently registered student.
  5. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship can be applied against registration fees, examination entry fees, course module fees, examination resit fees, recognition of prior learning fees and fees for changing a module, payable to the University of London. The scholarship does not cover other fees such as teaching centre or examination centre fees.
  6. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship may be awarded in addition to other scholarships and funding, but it cannot be used in conjunction with any other University of London bursary or scholarships.
  7. Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship may be reviewed on an annual basis and cannot be transferred to another individual.
  8. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship value is 30% of the relevant fee deducted from your fees and can be applied if you chose the ‘pay as go’ option, or if you select to pay your full course fee.
  9. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship may be awarded in addition to other scholarships and funding, though it cannot be used in conjunction with any other University of London bursary or scholarships.
  10. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship may be reviewed on an annual basis and cannot be transferred to another individual.
  11. Students awarded a Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship but who subsequently withdraw from their course of studies will no longer be eligible for the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship.
  12. As a scholarship holder, you are required to write a short report each year outlining the impact of your study and research which may be used for marketing purposes.
  13. Students who take a break in their studies will continue to be eligible for the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship provided that they complete their degree in the permitted timescales and pay any relevant fees.
  14. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship cannot be retroactively applied to studies in previous academic years.
  15. The Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship will be valid for the maximum period of registration for your programme.
  16. The University reserves the right to terminate the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship if you are found to have omitted key information or have provided untrue, inaccurate, incomplete or fraudulent information on your application form or in any additional information provided to the University and used in the determination of the award of your Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship.
  17. You agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the University of London. If you do not abide by these rules and regulations, or if you do not meet the requirements (including the academic requirements) to continue or complete the Global MBA distance learning course, the University reserves the right to withdraw the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship with immediate effect.
  18. You undertake to use your best efforts to fulfil the academic requirements of the Global MBA distance learning course.
  19. As part of the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship award, the University may ask you to participate in marketing related activities and/or events to promote and share your experiences of the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship. Examples of typical activities and/or events may include participating in an interview, providing a profile for the University website or prospectus or attending an open day or induction event. If you participate in such activities and/or events, you agree for the University to use any material resulting from such activities and/or events for the purposes of publicity material and/or for the education of other students, whether electronically or in print. You furthermore release and discharge the University and its agents, representatives and assignees from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of the publicity material, including without limitation any and all claims for invasion of privacy and defamation. Additionally, you agree that the copyright of any publicity material shall be wholly vested in the University and you hereby assign to the University any and all rights in the publicity material.
  20. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you are giving the University the right to hold and process your personal data, including some sensitive personal data. The University will process this personal data (including any personal data provided as part of participation in a marketing related activity and/or event under clause 16) in accordance with the UK Data Protection legislation and the University’s Data Protection Policy. The University will only share data with third parties in accordance with its Data Protection Policy and the University will remain the data controller of the data. The Data Protection Policy is applicable from the time of accepting these Terms and Conditions.
  21. The University of London and any relevant Member Institutions are separate legal entities. In accepting the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship you agree to the sharing of your personal data between the University and a Member Institution (where relevant) for the purposes of the management of your Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship.
  22. Each of the clauses of these Terms and Conditions operate separately. If a clause or any part of a clause is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed deleted, but that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of these Terms and Conditions which shall remain in full force and effect.
  23. These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and the University in relation to the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship. All previous agreements, arrangements and understandings between you and the University relating to the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship, whether written or oral, shall have no legal effect unless expressly set out in these Terms and Conditions.
  24. If the University fails to insist that you perform any of your obligations under these Terms and Conditions, or if the University does not enforce its rights against you, or if the University delays in doing so, that will not mean that the University has waived its rights against you and that will not mean that you do not have to comply with those obligations. If the University waives a default by you of the Global MBA Entrepreneurs scholarship, the University will only do so in writing, and that will not mean that it will automatically waive any later default by you.
  25. These are the Terms and Conditions between you and the University. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of the terms of these Terms and Conditions.
  26. These Terms and Conditions, and any matters arising out of or in relation to these Terms and Conditions, are governed and construed in accordance with English law. The parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in relation to these Terms and Conditions.
