Being Human festival 2019
14 – 23 November
Location: Across the UK
The UK’s only national festival of the humanities is back! With more than 250 free events taking place across the UK in more than 50 towns, cities and villages.
The festival’s mission is to make humanities subjects including history, literature, classics, archaeology, philosophy, art history and languages accessible, engaging and fun for all, and to demonstrate and celebrate the relevance of humanities research to society, culture and everyday life.
The festival is led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London and runs in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
There’s something new for all ages and interests to discover in this year’s ‘Discoveries and Secrets’-themed programme, with events including gallery take-overs, hands-on workshops and behind-the-scenes tours, on topics spanning everything from Moroccan hip-hop to LGBTQ+ histories.
