Holden Lecture 2019 with Dr Nick Barratt - "All that glisters is not gold": re-defining the value of Senate House Library

This year's Holden Lecture will explore Senate House Library's position within the University of London, reflecting on recent measures taken to address historic and infrastructural problems facing the Library, including embracing the challenges of the digital age and leading on several university initiatives.

Director of Senate House Library, Dr Nick Barratt will look at the Library's bright and exciting future, discussing its role in supporting student wellbeing as well as seeking out opportunity as the Library focuses on new audiences outside the traditional academic sphere.

About Dr Nick Barratt

Dr Nick Barratt was appointed Director of Senate House Library, University of London, in April 2018, having joined in 2015 as Associate Director, Collections and Engagement. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, an Honorary Associate Professor of public history at the University of Nottingham, a teaching fellow at the University of Dundee, and sits on the Executive Committee of the Community Archives and Heritage Group. A qualified historian specialising in thirteenth century state finance and fiscal history, he is a published author and, prior to his current position, worked in the media for a number of years.

The lecture will be followed by a reception in Senate House.
