How to apply

The application process is open to all students attending a publicly funded university in London.

Eligibility criteria and application details will be displayed when you select which university or institute you are studying at.

Browse our halls before you make an application, so you can decide which of our different accommodation types is right for you. Once you find a hall and room that is right for you, you can apply directly from that page.

Quota System

Most (but not all) of the rooms at the Intercollegiate Hall are offered through a quota-based system. This simply means that University of London Member Institutions (MIs for short) of the University of London, e.g., UCL, KCL, receive a quota (proportion) of our rooms, and these rooms form part of their accommodation offering to their students. As such when you apply for accommodation via your MI, you may see offerings from the Intercollegiate Halls.

MIs bid on the rooms and halls that they would like to have in their quota, so not all the room types may be available via your MI. Please have a look at the Hall Finder section below for more details.

Direct Bookings 2022/23

Some of our rooms are available by applying directly with us. We accept students who are studying a full-time course at any UK based publicly funded University (not just MIs).

Currently, we have rooms at Eleanor Rosa House (ERH) available via this route. Use our website to find out more about rooms at Eleanor Rosa House or go directly to the Accommodation Portal to check if your chosen ERH room is available to book today.

If your MI is unable to offer you a room you are interested in or if that room doesn’t form part of their quota, you are welcome to apply directly via our website on September 1st when all rooms that haven’t been filled will be released for direct booking. Please note, however, that there is no guarantee which accommodation is going to be available and it is a first-come, first-served process.

Check your eligibility

When you are browsing this website, you will be asked which university you are studying at. Please make sure you select your university from the drop-down menu. By doing this, you will be presented only with rooms that you are eligible for, whether they form part of the quota system or are available to apply for directly.

Further information

Accommodation Portal

The website that you are currently on has been created to help you make an informed choice about our accommodation options. There is plenty of information, photos and virtual tours of all our rooms. However, in order to book one of our rooms, you will have to do so via the Accommodation Portal.

If you have applied via your university (quota system) you will receive an email from us with an offer and a link to the Accommodation Portal through which you’ll be able to accept or reject an offered room.

For accommodation available via a direct application, you will have to click on the Check Availability button on the page that displays the accommodation option.

Accommodation for students with disabilities

DDA accommodation has adaptations for residents with access or mobility requirements. They’re all ensuite and the bathroom is a wet-room style that offers more space for wheelchair users and the fittings are slightly lower for improved reachability.

To apply, please contact your MI or check availability for Eleanor Rosa House directly by browsing our rooms.
