This is the second rebrand in 160 years for the University of London’s distance and flexible learning programmes, which are taught around the world.

From Thursday 1 February 2018, we have a new name. We are dropping the ‘International Programmes’ element of our brand, and changing our name to ‘University of London’ for public use and ‘University of London Worldwide’ for internal use. This means that all our public-facing materials will carry the University of London logo, to reflect the body issuing the academic award for our study programmes.

For a while, you will see both the old ‘International Programmes’ name and the ‘University of London’ name being used. This is because we are phasing in the new name as we replenish our materials.

This is the second rebrand in 160 years for the University of London’s distance and flexible learning programmes, which are taught around the world. The new branding will clearly reflect the academic awards that our students study for, and we believe this will clear up any confusion that arose with our previous branding.

The rebrand also extends to all the teaching institutions, at home and overseas, that provide teaching support for our students. The new name, University of London Recognised Teaching Centre, will replace, from 1 August 2018, the current system of recognition that includes University of London International Programmes Affiliate, Registered and Candidate Centres.

Our communication will be ongoing to let people know of the name changes associated with the rebrand. We will be using a number of channels to get this message across, including our website and social media. We appreciate that students and teaching institutions, as well as alumni, will also play a key role in helping us to further promote the new name.

We have been delivering on our access agenda since 1858, and we are proud of the University of London brand’s international reach and reputation for quality and academic rigour. Our new name will extend our reach even further and, in doing so, help us to further promote our access agenda.
