Dr Koufopoulos has started his new role with the University’s distance and flexible learning department, which has 51,000 students in 180 countries and 1.4million learners enrolled on its MOOCs programme on Coursera. He brings to the role twenty-seven years of full-time university level experience, which includes teaching and lecturing on Strategic Management and Corporate Governance modules, as well as carrying out research projects. Much of Dr Koufopoulos’ experience was gained at Cardiff and Brunel universities in the UK.
In his new role, Dr Koufopoulos will be developing a long-term strategy for the University of London’s Global MBA programme, which was launched in January 2017, in partnership with Queen Mary University of London, and is now being taught across the world. This Global MBA provides an extensive range of specialisms in Law, Finance, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Accountancy and Leadership.

I’m very excited about my new role, which will encompass a range of different elements, including academia, marketing and alumni relations. This will involve working with students, academics, teaching centres, member institutions of the University of London and alumni to promote this unique programme.
The University of London’s ground-breaking Global MBA comes with professional accreditations from major bodies, including the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
This Global MBA has been specifically designed for career professionals and provides considerable flexibility in both mode and place of study, while offering students four entry and examination points per year. This additional flexibility will help students to successfully combine work and study. Learning materials and online tools, specially designed for the Global MBA, will equip students with the necessary skills needed to understand and address the enormous challenges facing today’s global business leaders in a wide range of business settings.
Dr Koufopoulos is the founder and research director of the Hellenic Observatory of Corporate Governance, which is a research and education centre dedicated to the study and application of responsible principles of corporate governance in Greece. He has extensive experience of designing and delivering online learning materials and courses. This includes the design and delivery of several MBA modules for leading UK universities, including the University of London.
Dr Koufopoulos graduated with a PhD and an MBA, both in Business Administration, from Cardiff University. He is a member of numerous professional organisations, including the European Academy of Management (EURAM), the Strategic Management Society (USA) and the Academy of Management (USA). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consultants (UK) and a member of the Chartered Management Institute.
A notable conference speaker, Dr Koufopoulos has contributed to many reviews and journals, and has co-authored a book with Martyn Pitt, entitled Essentials on Strategic Management.
