High quality large scale distance education workshop

The 2018 research conference for the Centre for Distance Education, took place on Friday 16 March 2018 at Senate House, University of London.

This one-day event explored new directions and developments in distance education and technology-enhanced learning. With a strong research focus it incorporated outputs from the CDE’s programme of Teaching and Research Awards. The programme featured seminars and workshops around the themes of:

  • learning design
  • assessment
  • learning analytics
  • open educational resources and open educational practice,
  • MOOCs
  • serious games

We were delighted to welcome our two keynote speakers:

  • Dr Sharon Slade, Student Experience Manager, The Faculty of Business and Law, The Open University: Learning analytics: ethical considerations
  • Professor Mark Brown, Director, National Institute for Digital Learning, Dublin City University: “Learning Design for Student Success: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”.
