The visit was hosted by Professor Mary Stiasny OBE, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), during which both parties undertook a scoping exercise for potential engagement with the State of Haryana on parallel degrees, including the University of London’s new BSc Computer Science.
The delegation also included the Haryana Director-General of Higher and Technical Education, Mr A. Srinivas and the Vice-Chancellors of four leading universities in Haryana, namely:
- Dr Tankeshvar Kumar, VC, Guru Jambeshwar university Hisar
- Dr Rajendra Kumar Anayath VC, DCRUST Murthal, Sonepat
- Dr Dinesh Kumar, VC , YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad
- Dr Rajbir Singh, VC, State University of Performing & Visual Arts, Rohtak
Professor Stiasny, said she was delighted to host the visit at Senate House, home of the University of London, and she looked forward to working with the team from Haryana in the near future. She added:
I was also delighted to receive a copy of the Sanskrit scripture entitled the Bhagavad Gita, comprising a synthesis of Hindu ideas and philosophy
Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said the Government of Haryana is putting its best efforts forward to improve the quality of Technical and Higher Education being provided in the State of Haryana and that is why this visit to explore collaboration overseas is of such importance.
