Over 750,000 items added to Click & Collect

From Monday 8 February 2021, we're expanding the collections available via Click & Collect and moving the service to the 4th floor SHL Welcome Desk (previously on the ground floor). Restricted to open access books until now, over 750,000 items from our repositories will be orderable, with some loanable for study at home and others for onsite study only (online seat booking required).

This is intended to help those with limited study space and resources at home to continue with their studies and research. Our priority is the health and safety of all our readers and staff and we therefore urge you to keep travel outside your home to a minimum and only if it is absolutely necessary.

Limited socially distanced study space is available in our Goldsmiths, Middlesex North and South Reading Rooms and laptops for use onsite are available from the main service area on the 4th floor. Carrels are not available to book at the current time. The Special Collections reading room is open on Tuesdays 11am - 2.45pm, by appointment only. Study spaces can be booked when ordering items via the Special Collections email.

Stay Safe, Take a Test
We're open for urgently needed books & study space. For everyone’s safety, we encourage you to #StaySafe & take a covid test before entering the Library (up to 72hrs before arrival). The University of London Student Central test site on Malet Street is free to students of the University of London. Test results given within 30mins. Booking essential - click here for an appointment.

Senate House Library staff will check your booking on arrival and may change your seat allocation. This is to ensure adequate social distancing & the safest study environment possible for all readers while onsite. If you are exempt from wearing a face mask, we may upgrade your study space to a carrel & advise on alternative ways to access services to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.

As with all our services, we will continue to review what we can offer on a regular basis, in line with the latest coronavirus restrictions and public health precautions. Please check our website and social media @SenateHouseLib regularly for the latest service updates and ensure you have confirmation of online orders and bookings before travelling.
