The University of London joined over 1m people in central London that turned out to celebrate the annual Pride Parade. 2019 marks the 50th anniversary since the birth of the modern LGBT+ rights movement that started with the Stonewall Uprising in New York City in 1969.
Organised alongside member institutes from across the Federation, the contingent was made up of 75 people and included those from Institute of Cancer Research, Queen Mary University of London, Royal Holloway University of London, SOAS University of London, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine & City, University of London.
The University marched alongside colleagues and friends from Birkeck University of London, UCL and London School of Economics. For the first time, a total of 16 London based Higher Education Institute’s walked in the same section of the parade to show common commitment to LGBT+ equality.
